Row
Z were formed in 2001 by Richard Smith. The band is drawn
from musicians who have toured, performed, and recorded
with some of the most famous artists in the world. They
can play across a variety of styles and genres - eg, classic
covers, jazz, funk, blues, soul, reggae - in fact any song
from the last 60 years in any style. They can either perform
as a solo act or up to five band members. Richard Smith
appeared in the finals of the 'Young Jazz Musician of the
Year' hosted by Jools Holland, and reached the last six
of the 'Guitarist of the Year' finals. Row Z's first gig
was with Courtney Pine at the opening concert of the inaugural
Southport Jazz Festival.
They perform nationally and internationally at clubs, festivals,
corporate events, functions, weddings and everything inbetween.
"Despite their recent beginnings, Row Z are already
attracting a lot of attention; the band's massive attraction
live lies in their universal appeal". BBC interview
"A band to look out for - think fast and furious".
